It's the week before finals here at Mudd, and it's not the most fun of weeks to be here. I have no right to complain, as I know I've got it a lot better than most people. I don't have a CS5 final project due, and I don't have to rewrite any of my Hum papers. Nevertheless, it isn't pretty.

The twenty-four hours between dinner on Monday and dinner on Tuesday have so far been the worst for me at Mudd. Although Monday during the day wasn't bad, probably because the only homework due then was chemistry and it was the final installment of Chem 25 lab, Monday night was quite unpleasant. Thankfully, the DEs homework wasn't that bad, and half the physics was laughably easy. The first half of the physics was not laughable easy, but I was able to use a couple logic games to justify my argument. I probably won't get full credit, but there's a reason that this semester is pass-fail, and I'll only fail physics if I horribly bomb the final. After that, I had CS to do; I spent my first CS60 dollar on part 3 of the assignment, but had to write up the proofs in part 4, which were moderately tricky. I managed a bit of work on my Hum 1 presentation before going to bed; it was 3:30 AM.

Physics recitation at 8 AM Tuesday was the bright spot of this twenty-four hour period. It was my final recitation with Prof. Eckert, who is awesome. The details are a bit hazy in my mind, but it was a good class. Then came a break in which I frantically worked on my presentation before 11 AM Hum 1. The presentation was somewhat of a disaster. I got the content I want to get across, but I was stumbling a bit with words and lengthy pauses (mainly because I was making stuff up as I got along) and my nervousness didn't help either. It wasn't pretty.

The day wore on; CS 60 wasn't bad, but that's about it. I finished my Turing machine at around 5:10 PM, then howled in anger; I had accidentally closed the machine, and the file that I opened to recover it was apparently the wrong file. I headed off to dinner in frustration.

Then things got better; dinner was good, and I found the Turing machine (at ~/part3.jff instead of ~/jflap/part3.jff) right as I got back. Having no homework due the next day, I just lounged and played Settlers all night. My brain was just nonfunctional, although there was certainly work I could do.

Yesterday was a fairly typical Mudd day. I found out that I'll be grutoring CS 60 next semester, which makes me happy. The physics homework was nice and easy, so I started my portfolio revision. Mine isn't as bad as many peoples, but I'm still not looking forward to doing it. The CS homework is also more annoying than usual, as it's not really coding so much as big-O notating and graphing. However, it's preferable to having a CS5 final project due; I've seen many CS5 students sweating over their NullPointerExceptions and such over the last couple nights, coming up with errors that neither myself nor the CS5 grutors can fix.

And now to get to work. Plus there'll probably be a bit of studying for the chem quiz I have tomorrow. If there's time, that is.
