The current incarnation of the Legion of Super-Heroes continues to drag on. This week's installment, Justice League vs. the Legion of Super-Heroes #3.

The good news is that this issue wasn’t quite as painfully decompressed as the first two. The bad news is, well, it’s still a mess. Ominous posturing about how big the threat from the Great Darkness aside, did we really need to throw in Kamandi and Batman Beyond when the characters that were already in this series already all sound pretty much the same? It did look as if this miniseries was finally leading somewhere that would justify the “vs” in its title with the suggestion that the Justice League was going to go after Gold Lantern, but then that got backburnered for the time shenanigans. I’m not actually interested in heroes versus heroes but if you’re going to promise that, you should actually deliver.

At least this ends in three more issues, and maybe the next Legion writer won’t feel the need to overexplain fun concepts like the Science Police. Make Mon-El a Daxamite again while you're at it.
