The Wheeling-St. Louis Road
Aug. 9th, 2005 06:36 pmWell, I'm really tired, mainly because we took Tim's advice and got out of West Virginia pretty quicly. The trip west was non-eventful until reaching Milepost 9 in Ohio, just a few miles out from Reading, IN, at which point we hit major stopped traffic. It must have taken an hour to get just ten miles. After detouring on US-40 at the next exit (which was in Indiana), we got back on I-70 (taking the bypass south of Indianapolis when we got there) and uneventfully reached St. Louis at around 6 PM Central Time.
That's right, Central Time. I'm now officially in a different time zone than my friends back in Pennsylvania, and it's only going to be more exacerbated from here on. The separation issue hasn't really sunk in quite yet, but I do get quite depressed thinking about it. For every mile west on I-70, I put another mile between myself and you. :(
That being said, we have a nice hotel in St. Louis, with a great view of the Arch and the Mississippi River from our room, and we found a good Italian restaurant to eat a late dinner at. Hopefully I'll be able to post some pictures of St. Louis tomorrow.
