The course schedule that will be released this Monday does not indicate that Engineering 59 will be offered next Spring (07). It turns out that the Engineering Department is facing significant staffing issues in the coming year, but they have agreed to do everything they can to make sure the course is offered both Fall and Spring of next year. We will discuss the situation in more detail at the First-Year Advising Meeting, scheduled for Thursday, April 13, at 11AM in Galileo McAlister. In the mean time, we wanted you to know that it in all likelihood it will be available for you next Spring, and that you can plan accordingly. Let me know if you have any questions.Which is somewhat worrying. Taking Baby Stems next semester would be rather unpleasant, given that I'm taking E&M and CS 70 (for non-Mudders, suffice it to say that those are two of the more difficult classes offered at Mudd) then as well. On the other hand, deferring Stems until junior year also wouldn't be particularly good, given that there's a rule stating that you have to take all of the Core Curriculum by 5th semester or leave Mudd. Of course, I really don't think Mudd would screw us over to that degree, and they'd probably make a slight alteration in the requirements if Stems wasn't offered in Spring 2007. Even so, my first preference is still to take Stems fourth semester.
